What causes sesamoiditis?

This foot condition develops when the small bones are repeatedly irritated and injured due to overuse and trauma.

Common symptoms:

  • Aching
  • Pain
  • Intense throbbing
  • Swelling or redness


  • Xray
  • MRI


  • Examination by preferred podiatrist
  • Stop or reduce activities causing stress or pain
  • Steriod injections
  • Prescribe anti-inflammtory medication
  • Cast for custom molded orthotics
  • Recommend surgery, if necessary
