Plantar warts are caused by coming in direct contact with HPV virus. The HPV virus is commonly known to cause warts in other parts of the body as well. This virus can enter the body through minor cuts and breaks at the bottom of the feet. They become hard and painful to walk on. 

Symptoms: 

  • Thickend skin
  • Tiny black dots around infected area
  • Pain while ambulating

Diagnosis:

  • Examining the area where warts are present 
  • Debridement of the warts to check for signs of dark, pinpoint dots — tiny clotted blood vessels
  • A biopsy of the skin lesion and sending it to a laboratory for analysis

Treatment: 

  • Freezing the wart
  • Application of acid
  • Excision of wart
  • Laser
