The cause of plantar faciitis is commonly related to flat feet, overly-arched feet, or foot deformities. Individuals affected with this condition can have significant limitations in activities of daily living, exercise, and work-related activities. This condition can be resolved through non-surgical or surgical treatment.
Symptoms:
- Pain on the bottom of the feet
- Pain in the arch of the foot
- Inflammation on the botton of the heel
- Pain increases while standing/sitting over long periods of time
- Pain and swelling is more prominent in the mornings
Diagnosis:
- Foot examination
- Perform x-rays of the pain-related foot.
- MRI
Treatment:
- Steroid injection
- Oral anti-inflammatories or steroid
- Stretching and Icing
- Night splint
- Custom Orthotics
