The cause of plantar faciitis is commonly related to flat feet, overly-arched feet, or foot deformities. Individuals affected with this condition can have significant limitations in activities of daily living, exercise, and work-related activities. This condition can be resolved through non-surgical or surgical treatment. 

Symptoms: 

  • Pain on the bottom of the feet 
  • Pain in the arch of the foot
  • Inflammation on the botton of the heel 
  • Pain increases while standing/sitting over long periods of time
  • Pain and swelling is more prominent in the mornings

Diagnosis:

  • Foot examination
  • Perform x-rays of the pain-related foot.
  • MRI

Treatment:

  • Steroid injection
  • Oral anti-inflammatories or steroid
  • Stretching and Icing
  • Night splint
  • Custom Orthotics
