What can cause high-arched feet?

  • Neurological disorders
  • Other medical conditions (e.g cerebral palsy, polio, stroke)
  • Inherited abnormality 

Common symptoms: 

  • Pain when standing or walking
  • Unstable foot 
  • Calluses on the ball, side, or heel of foot
  • Hammertoe or claw toes

Diagnosis: 

  • Examination by preferred podiatrist
  • Review family medical history 
  • Xray

Treatment: 

  • May refer to neurologist, if needed
  • Custom molded orthotics
  • Shoe modifications (e.g wide shoes or orthopedic shoes)
  • Ankle brace to help with foot and ankle stability
